A team of Chinese construction engineers with their supervisors is already implementing the project. The technical school will be constructed on a total field area of 4.8 hectares with entire building of 8700 square meters having capacity to accomodate about 1,100 students.

The school is being designed to offer trainings in the areas of construction and building services (plumbing & welding), Agriculture and food processing( Argo-business especially in bamboo, meat & fruit processing), ICT & Electronics.

From the initial stage of negotiations, WDA’s Director in charge of Partnerships Didier Munezero said that the school will expand its programmes depending on identified requirements within the surrounding environment.

According to WDA, a delegation led by the director general of WDA Jerome Gasana went to China in January 2012 to negotiate about the construction of the school. The visit followed that of a delegation of 12 Chinese experts in August 2011 to Rwanda to discuss the way forward as regards to the construction design.

This team of the Chinese experts was led by Chen Zhiqiang who stated that their government looks forward to making the school meet basic needs in education, based on their expertise.

Chinese experts from the China Railway Engineering Company also came in Rwanda to carry out a geological survey on the construction site. The school is also expected to be a role model and a demand driven TVET School.
